This policy explains what ParseHebrew does with your information. ParseHebrew is made by Danny Zacharias in Nova Scotia, Canada, who is responsible for it under Canada's privacy law (PIPEDA).
The short version
- No account, no sign-in, no ads.
- Nothing is sold or shared for marketing. Some versions send anonymous usage statistics, described below.
- If the app crashes, an anonymous crash report is sent so the bug can be fixed.
What leaves your device
ParseHebrew uses Firebase Crashlytics, a crash-reporting service from Google. When the app crashes or hits a serious error, Crashlytics sends a report containing:
- a technical description of the error (a stack trace);
- your device model, operating system version and the app's version;
- a random installation identifier created by Crashlytics, which is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID or Google account.
Crash reports are used only to find and fix bugs. They are kept for 90 days and then deleted. They are never used for advertising or to build a profile of you. Google processes them on our behalf under the Firebase data processing terms.
Usage statistics
The iPhone and iPad versions also include Firebase Analytics from Google. It records anonymous usage events, such as when the app is opened and which screens are used, along with your device model, operating system, app version, approximate region (from your IP address) and a random app-instance identifier. This is used only to understand how the app is used and which devices to support. It is not linked to your name or account, and it is not used for advertising.
Performance data
The iPhone and iPad versions also include Firebase Performance Monitoring from Google. It measures how long the app takes to start, along with your device model, operating system and app version. It is not linked to your name or account. The Android version does not include it.
Unused messaging components. The iPhone and iPad versions also contain Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging and In-App Messaging components. ParseHebrew never sends notifications or in-app messages, but these components may still contact Google to register an anonymous device token and check for messages.
What stays on your device
ParseHebrew saves a few preferences on your device so it opens the way you left it:
- your five most recent quizzes and the settings each one used
- the textbooks you've starred
- your quiz settings
- the date you first opened the app, so it knows when to ask for a review
These are never sent anywhere. Deleting the app deletes them.
Purchases
ParseHebrew is a one-time purchase with no in-app purchases. Payment is handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play, and your payment details are never shared with the developer.
Apple and Google send developers sales reports with totals by country. These don't identify you.
Children
ParseHebrew is a study tool for students of the biblical languages and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children, and the anonymous statistics described above are not used to identify anyone.
Your choices
- To remove everything the app has saved, delete the app.
- Crash reports can't be linked to you, so they can't be looked up by name. If you'd like any report from your device removed, email the address below with your device model and roughly when the crash happened, and it will be deleted if it can be found.
- You can ask what information is held about you, or ask a question about this policy, at any time.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts handling data differently, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
