This policy explains what ParseGreek does with your information. It covers every edition: ParseGreek, ParseGreek LITE. ParseGreek is made by Danny Zacharias in Nova Scotia, Canada, who is responsible for it under Canada's privacy law (PIPEDA).
The short version
- No account, no sign-in, no ads.
- Nothing is sold or shared for marketing. Some versions send anonymous usage statistics, described below.
- If the app crashes, an anonymous crash report is sent so the bug can be fixed.
What leaves your device
ParseGreek uses Firebase Crashlytics, a crash-reporting service from Google. When the app crashes or hits a serious error, Crashlytics sends a report containing:
- a technical description of the error (a stack trace);
- your device model, operating system version and the app's version;
- a random installation identifier created by Crashlytics, which is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID or Google account.
Crash reports are used only to find and fix bugs. They are kept for 90 days and then deleted. They are never used for advertising or to build a profile of you. Google processes them on our behalf under the Firebase data processing terms.
ParseGreek LITE for iPhone and iPad does not include Crashlytics or any other Google service, so it sends nothing at all.
Usage statistics
The Android version also includes Firebase Analytics from Google. It records anonymous usage events, such as when the app is opened and which screens are used, along with your device model, operating system, app version, approximate region (from your IP address) and a random app-instance identifier. This is used only to understand how the app is used and which devices to support. It is not linked to your name or account, and it is not used for advertising.
The iPhone and iPad versions do not include these.
What stays on your device
ParseGreek saves a few preferences on your device so it opens the way you left it:
- your most recent quiz selections
- the textbooks you've starred
- how many times you've answered each form correctly
- the date you first opened the app
- the interface language (English or Spanish)
- in ParseGreek LITE, how many practice cards you've used and whether you've unlocked the full app
These are never sent anywhere. Deleting the app deletes them.
Purchases
In-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. The app learns only whether a purchase was made, so it can unlock the content you bought. Your payment details, name and email are never shared with the developer by the app. ParseGreek itself is a one-time purchase with no in-app purchases. ParseGreek LITE offers a single one-time unlock, and whether you've unlocked it is saved on your device.
Apple and Google send developers sales reports with totals by country. These don't identify you.
Children
ParseGreek is a study tool for students of the biblical languages and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children, and the anonymous statistics described above are not used to identify anyone.
Your choices
- To remove everything the app has saved, delete the app.
- Crash reports can't be linked to you, so they can't be looked up by name. If you'd like any report from your device removed, email the address below with your device model and roughly when the crash happened, and it will be deleted if it can be found.
- You can ask what information is held about you, or ask a question about this policy, at any time.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts handling data differently, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
