FlashGreek privacy policy

Last updated September 30, 2026

This policy explains what FlashGreek does with your information. It covers every edition: FlashGreek PRO, FlashGreek LITE, FlashGreek: Mounce edition. FlashGreek is made by Danny Zacharias in Nova Scotia, Canada, who is responsible for it under Canada's privacy law (PIPEDA).

The short version

  • No account, no sign-in, no ads.
  • Nothing is sold or shared for marketing. Some versions send anonymous usage statistics, described below.
  • If the app crashes, an anonymous crash report is sent so the bug can be fixed.

What leaves your device

FlashGreek uses Firebase Crashlytics, a crash-reporting service from Google. When the app crashes or hits a serious error, Crashlytics sends a report containing:

  • a technical description of the error (a stack trace);
  • your device model, operating system version and the app's version;
  • a random installation identifier created by Crashlytics, which is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID or Google account.

Crash reports are used only to find and fix bugs. They are kept for 90 days and then deleted. They are never used for advertising or to build a profile of you. Google processes them on our behalf under the Firebase data processing terms.

Usage statistics

The Android version also includes Firebase Analytics from Google. It records anonymous usage events, such as when the app is opened and which screens are used, along with your device model, operating system, app version, approximate region (from your IP address) and a random app-instance identifier. This is used only to understand how the app is used and which devices to support. It is not linked to your name or account, and it is not used for advertising.

The Android LITE and Mounce editions also include the Facebook SDK, a software kit from Meta. It can report that the app was installed and opened, together with device information and, if your device settings allow it, your device's advertising identifier. The app does not use Facebook sign-in, and nothing about your study is sent to Meta unless you choose to share it. You can limit this by turning off ad personalization in your Android settings (Settings › Google › Ads), and Meta's handling of this data is covered by Meta's privacy policy.

The iPhone and iPad versions do not include these.

What stays on your device

FlashGreek saves a few preferences on your device so it opens the way you left it:

  • how many times you've marked each word correct, which the Exclude Words setting uses
  • your last four study sets, shown in the Recent row
  • when you first opened the app and how many times you've opened it, used only to decide when to ask for a store rating
  • in LITE and the Mounce edition, which purchases you've unlocked and their store prices

These are never sent anywhere. Deleting the app deletes them.

Purchases

In-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. The app learns only whether a purchase was made, so it can unlock the content you bought. Your payment details, name and email are never shared with the developer by the app. FlashGreek PRO is a one-time purchase with no in-app purchases. The Mounce edition is a one-time purchase with one optional in-app upgrade to PRO. LITE is free, with optional in-app upgrades.

Apple and Google send developers sales reports with totals by country. These don't identify you.

Children

FlashGreek is a study tool for students of the biblical languages and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children, and the anonymous statistics described above are not used to identify anyone.

Your choices

  • To remove everything the app has saved, delete the app.
  • Crash reports can't be linked to you, so they can't be looked up by name. If you'd like any report from your device removed, email the address below with your device model and roughly when the crash happened, and it will be deleted if it can be found.
  • You can ask what information is held about you, or ask a question about this policy, at any time.

Changes to this policy

If the app starts handling data differently, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
